The Conservative Environment Network (CEN) is the independent forum for conservatives in the UK and around the world who support net zero, nature restoration, and resource security.

CEN is working to ensure the environment is central to the future of conservatism, as the Conservative Party rebuilds after the general election defeat. Our outreach programme aims to grow and engage our network of conservative environmentalists to encompass more students, grassroots supporters and councillors, developing the next generation of conservative environmentalist leaders, raising awareness about environmental issues, strengthening environmental ambition, and promoting market-based solutions.

To help us deliver these goals, we’re looking to hire an organised and enthusiastic Outreach Officer. This position is ideally suited for someone with connections across the conservative movement, who is passionate about driving grassroots support for conservative environmentalism.

The successful applicant will:

  • Provide support managing our grassroots events programme, including our presence at Conservative Party Conference
  • Develop our youth programme Next Gen CEN and grow our network of young ambassadors
  • Engage and organise environmental events with conservative grassroots organisations on behalf of CEN
  • Organise virtual events to debate topical environmental issues for our networks
  • Help grow and manage our networks of supporters, councillors and ambassadors
  • Help create graphics and produce videos for CEN’s social media accounts to promote our events and campaigns

Person specification:

  • A passion for conservative environmentalism
  • Experience of working and organising within the conservative movement, and a broad network of conservatives across the UK
  • Good political judgement, and an ability to work independently and spot opportunities to progress CEN’s mission
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Enthusiastic about working in a small organisation
  • Experience of organising events is desirable
  • Experience creating graphics and editing videos for social media is desirable

We will invite a small number of successful applicants to submit a written task, and the best of these will be invited to an interview, taking place soon after the application deadline.
