Salary: Inline with IPSA payscales £23,008-£36,744 depending on experience

Length of Contract: Permanent (with a six month probation period)

Job Details

Sean Woodcock MP, is looking to build a team to support his work on behalf of the constituents of Banbury (Including Chipping Norton, Charlbury and North Oxfordshire Villages).These constituency based roles are Caseworker positions (1 x FTE and 2 x PTE).

Caseworkers play an important role in an MP’s office, supporting the MP to ensure that constituents concerns are heard and actioned.

You will be responsible for managing a large caseload, ensuring actions are taken and constituents are kept informed throughout. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential, as well as confidence engaging with and advocating on behalf of a wide range of people.

Key responsibilities:
• Deal with large numbers of standard queries from constituents, by phone, email, social media or face-to-face, and assist with complex cases.
• Gather relevant information from constituents and external stakeholders to assist with resolving cases.
• Analyse patterns of enquiries and produce reports to inform management of casework and policy development.
• Triage and log all cases as the first point of contact with the CRM system; monitor progress and ensure all identified actions are taken.
• Assist at surgeries and other meetings
• Ensure records are kept and information managed confidentially in line with the data protection legislation
• Develop case studies, with consent and input of constituents, to aid the MP in raising policy issues

Person specification:

Essential:
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Organised, with attention to detail and persistence in tracking down answers
• Strong multi-tasking and time management skills
• Capacity to handle a high and complex workload
• Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
• Experience in using Microsoft Office suite of tools
• Strong commitment to public service

Desirable:
• Previous experience of casework
• Ability to quickly learn new IT systems (eg Caseworker)
• A basic understanding of the political system, both nationally and locally
• An understanding of local issues in Banbury
