Job Details
An exciting opportunity has arisen for the role of Caseworker in the busy constituency office of Ben Coleman MP. The caseworker will work alongside the established Senior Caseworker and another Caseworker and be expected to work as a team as well as independently. Experience in casework is preferred. Experience in a similar role providing advice to individuals will be considered.
The position requires excellent communication skills; the ability to speak, write and listen well. And strong administrative and organisational skills to manage a busy workload.
Permanent role - office/hybrid working will be considered.
Key Responsibilities
* Supporting the MP in his work with constituents by providing advice and support through liaison with government agencies, local authorities, the voluntary sector and others.
* Managing, progressing, and monitoring casework delivery.
* Preparing for and attending surgery appointments.
* Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of relevant guidelines/legislation.
* Analysing patterns of cases and reporting to the Senior Caseworker and MP.
* Ensuring cases are dealt with in a sensitive and confidential manner.
Person & Job specification
* Degree level or equivalent.
* Experience of carrying out casework preferred.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
* A high standard of written English with attention to detail.
* Can prioritise work effectively and work independently.
* Has excellent administrative and organisational skills.
* Experience of dealing with sensitive and confidential information.
* Competent use of IT packages.
* A commitment to helping people and getting the best results possible for residents.
Allignment with the aims and goals of the Labour Party preferred.
Very occasional evening and weekend work is required.
