Job Title: Senior Communications and Engagement Officer

Salary: Up to £38,000 per annum, depending upon experience

Job Details

Natasha Irons is the newly elected MP for Croydon East. The job is primarily- but not exclusively- based within the Constituency which is situated on the tram network and within easy reach of mainline train stations.

The Senior Communications and Engagement Officer will be joining the team at an exciting time, ensuring external communications are engaging and purposeful. This is an opportunity for a candidate with a communications background to develop a far-reaching and innovative communications strategy and oversee its implementation.

There may be a requirement for the role holder to work outside of the normal working hours and travel for work occasionally

Length of contract: Permanent, subject to successful 3-month probationary period.

Key Responsibilities

Analyse, evaluate and interpret data to ensure the Member is accurately informed on key issues and is aware of trends

Design and develop a communications strategy for the Member as a constituency-focussed MP with engaging, targeted content and messages across a range of channels

Ensure online presence is meeting the demands of the constituents, the locality and the MP

Establish and develop appropriate strategies around social media and online presence in the constituency.

Produce online graphics and video content, as well as publicising surgeries and news alerts Evaluate the impact of external communications activity

Proactive and re-active communications with all media

Respond professionally, sensitively, confidentially and with integrity to routine correspondence and enquiries by email, telephone, social media and face to face from constituents, the media, lobbyists and pressure groups

Skills and Experience:

Ability to work independently and as part of a team, including the ability to lead and support colleagues

A background in developing communications strategies and oversee their effective delivery

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

Competence in producing online graphics and video content is desirable

Experience in using social media platforms, including creating engaging content, monitoring interactions and responding to enquiries.

A commitment to the aims and values of the Labour Party is desirable
