Job Details
Josh Dean MP, the new MP for Hertford and Stortford, is seeking a Caseworker to join his team and ensure the highest level of service for his constituents.
The MP’s constituency office plays a key role in assisting individuals needing support and facing difficult situations. An empathetic and practical approach is required to find a way forward and prioritise a high volume of daily contacts to the office. Working with many organisations at the local and national level, your role will involve adhering to processes to ensure all casework is dealt with professionally and sensitively.
The role will also require administrative skills, in relation to clear communication and filing of case details, as well as wider administrative office support functions including but not limited to diary management, assembling briefing packs, ensuring the office is fully equipped and supporting with logistical and administrative aspects of events and projects.
Key responsibilities
- Gather relevant information to assist with resolving cases.
- Log all cases; monitor progress and ensure all identified actions are taken.
- Draft responses to constituents
- Ensure records are kept and information managed confidentially in line with the data protection legislation
- Critically analyse patterns of enquiries and articulate the findings in reports and communication with the MP and other staff members.
- Ensure that each case is dealt with promptly, sensitively, confidentially, and accurately in accordance with the MP
- Assist in the compilation of briefing packs
- Assist with arrangement of constituent facing advice surgeries including searching for venues and bookings
- Diary management
- Efficient data and file management within the office, including support with the management of a busy inbox and incoming post
Essential requirements
- Experience of casework;
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral;
- High level of IT literacy.
Desirable requirements
- Knowledge of the constituency
Additional Information
There may be a requirement to work outisde of normal hours, including weekends and some occasional travel for surgeries within the constituency.
Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
