Job Title: Constituency Support Officer
Working For: Daniel Francis MP (Bexleyheath and Crayford)

Salary: £27,000-£29,500 pro rata

Job Details
Key responsibilities:
- Assist surgeries and other meetings and follow up as appropriate.
- Assist with arrangements for constituency meetings and events - including preparation ahead of the event, on-the-day support and assist with follow-up actions.
- Support the Constituency Communications Manager on local campaigns.
- Attend constituency meetings as appropriate.
- Critically analyse patterns of enquiries and articulate the findings in reports and communication with the MP and other staff members.
- Deal with large numbers of standard queries, as well as assist on more complex cases from members of the public by phone, email, social media or face-to-face. Ongoing communication may be required.
- Draft responses to constituents.
- Manage and monitor social media enquiries, dealing with cases that do not need to be transferred to a higher level. Ensure all enquiries are dealt with in a timely manner.
- Retain records and information confidentially and in line with the Data Protection Act.
- There may be a requirement for the role holder to work outside of the normal working hours and travel for work occasionally.
- Support colleagues with any other tasks as required.
Person specification:
Essential
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
- Well-organised and able to prioritise, plan and respond to a high volume of diverse work.
- Reliable, diligent and professional in always representing the MP and office.
- Proactive, self-starter with a can-do and positive approach to challenges.
- Ability to work flexibly and creatively as part of a small fast-paced team.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage own workload, work independently, prioritise and work under pressure.
- Excellent IT – including use of the office suite, general administrative and organisational skills.
- Understanding of and sympathy with the aims and values of the Labour Party.
Desirable
- Knowledge and experience of launching and working on campaigns.
- Experience of politics/parliament or a relevant field e.g. charity sector.
- A full UK driving licence and access to a car
