Job Title: Caseworker (part-time)

Job Details
Key responsibilities:
- Analyse patterns of enquiries and produce reports.
- Assist surgeries and other meetings and follow up as appropriate.
- Attend constituency meetings as appropriate.
- Deal with large numbers of standard queries, as well as assisting on more complex cases from members of the public by phone, email, social media or face-to-face. Ongoing communication may be required.
- Draft responses to constituents.
- Ensure records are kept and information managed confidentially in line with the data protection legislation.
- Ensure that each case is dealt with promptly, sensitively, confidentially and accurately in accordance with the MP.
- Gather relevant information to assist with resolving cases.
- Log all cases; monitor progress and ensure all identified actions are taken.
- Retain records and information confidentially and in line with the Data Protection Act.
- Support colleagues with other tasks as required.
- There may be a requirement for the role holder to work outside of normal hours and travel for work occasionally.
Person specification:
Essential
- Capacity to respond patiently and politely to changing demands from constituents.
- Ability to assess complex and often incomplete information and be able to identify the key issues on behalf of a constituent.
- Excellent organisational skills, including the ability to manage conflicting work priorities and deadlines and pay keen attention to detail.
- Being a self-starter with a demonstrable record of taking initiative to manage a large and varied caseload under pressure to a high standard.
- Ability to work flexibly and creatively as part of a small fast-paced team.
- Understanding of and sympathy with the aims and values of the Labour Party.
Desirable
- Knowledge of local support organisations and sources of advice.
- Experience of politics/parliament or a relevant field e.g. charity sector.
