Job Details
Central Lobby Consultants (CLC) seeks a Public Affairs Consultant to join its busy team.
We are looking for someone who already has some experience in policy-related role and now wants to develop a career in public affairs. The role mainly involves working with charities and representative groups on policy issues affecting them. We hope to fill this position as soon as possible.
You will:
• Monitor policy and legislative developments
• Prepare briefing notes, meeting agendas and reports, newsletters and press releases.
• Support CLC's lobbying work, including preparation of consultation responses.
• Provide secretariat support for charity clients (i.e. update websites, maintain membership lists, circulate meeting invitations)
• Help co-ordinate external meetings.
Skills/Experience required:
• An understanding of UK political processes.
• Relevant experience and an interest in politics and public affairs.
• Excellent spoken and written English, with good communication skills.
• The ability to prepare clear, concise and accurate written material, with strong proof-reading skills and excellent attention to detail.
• A good degree in a relevant subject.
• Very well organised and ability to adapt swiftly to clients’ requests
• Good IT knowledge and experience using MS Office.
• A self-starter who is happy to work in a small but demanding office.
Desirable Skills/Experience:
• Practical experience of using Mailchimp, Wordpress and social media.
• Experience of co-ordinating meetings and events.
• An interest and understanding of how charities including religious institutions work
