Job Details

Jen Craft MP is looking for Thurrock-based interns to join her team and gain valuable hands-on experience in politics, public service, and community engagement. This internship is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about helping people, local issues, and making a real difference in the community. We are looking for people who would like to do 1-2 days a week, or more, and we can have up to 1 intern in mon-fri.

Key Responsibilities:
As an intern, you will be a valued member of the team, contributing to a range of activities, including:

Constituency Casework & Administration:
• Provide frontline support by handling phone enquiries and assisting with casework.
• Help set up case files, draft responses, and track progress on the casework management system.
• Ensure effective communication with constituents, keeping them informed about issues affecting them.
Community Engagement & Outreach:
• Assist in planning and promoting local events, such as MP surgeries, coffee mornings, and community meetings.
• Engage with local stakeholders, organisations, and residents to support Jen’s work in the constituency.

Research & Communications:
• Conduct research on local issues, policies, and casework matters.
• Draft letters, reports, and briefing notes as needed.
• Support the team in managing social media updates and community newsletters.

• Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with a friendly and professional approach.
• Highly organised and proactive, able to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• A team player who is keen to learn and contribute to a fast-paced office environment.
• Willingness to occasionally work outside normal hours and attend community events

Interview/Start Dates

Closing time for applications is midnight.

Interviews will be held on Monday 24th February in person. Shortlisted candidates will be informed of their interview time on Wednesday 19th February. An immediate start will be preferred or a short notice period.
