Job Details
Comms Oversight – to take a strategic approach to comms to ensure there is a consistent message, relating to the MP’s priorities.
To send out a fortnightly newsletter to subscribers and party members updating on the MP’s work and any key messages that need to be circulated.
Responsibility for ensuring the MP’s website is fully updated
Responsibility for drafting press releases, local news articles and regular columns and newsletters.
To actively seek out new opportunities for the MP to push messaging through local press outlets, Facebook groups, local newsletters etc.
To monitor local and national media coverage and identify opportunities for comment. Providing the MP with a weekly update on local media coverage.
To liaise with media when necessary.
Responsibility for the MP’s social media including producing a strategic plan in conjunction with the Team, ensure regular, daily posts across platforms, monitor social media accounts and platforms including Facebook groups and ensuring the MP is fully updated.
Log all cases raised on social media platforms, directing constituents to reach out to MP’s inbox.
Responsibility for graphic design and video editing.
To work with Parliamentary team on media briefing and drafting comments for press.
To manage press contact list and ensure it is fully up to date.
Dairy Oversight – in conjunction with the MP and senior staff, manage the MP’s diary including Parliamentary and constituency duties, room bookings and meeting arrangements.
Present the MP and senior team with proposals for visits, meetings in Westminster, drop-ins etc. Undertake a strategic approach to making the case for visits and meetings to ensure the MP is using her time best.
In conjunction with guidance from the senior team, lead on briefing packs for visits and meetings including daypacks.
Carry out research as required.
Attendance at constituency surgeries and engagements may be necessary as appropriate.
There may be a requirement for the role holder to work outside of the normal working hours and travel for work occasionally
Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
