Job Details

Part-time - Mon to Fri – 20 hrs – 4 hrs per day (salary pro-rated to 0.5 FTE).  Based in constituency office in Leamington Spa.

Key responsibilities:

  1. Lead on managing and responding to campaign emails in MP’s office by researching policy issues, drafting accurate and consistent responses and ensuring alignment with MP’s positions. Monitor trends in constituent concerns, provide briefings on key topics and coordinate with stakeholders to support effective communication and engagement.
  2. Lead on developing relationships with local businesses to understand needs, support growth and promote economic prosperity in constituency. Conduct research on local economic trends, identify opportunities for business development and provide MP with insights to advocate for policies that benefit local economy.
  3. Database management using Excel to handle administrative cases.

Research, Analysis and Briefing

  • Analyse, evaluate and interpret data to ensure Member is accurately informed on key issues
  • Develop and maintain current knowledge on relevant areas of parliamentary business
  • Undertake research on relevant subjects as directed
  • Have working knowledge of relevant legislation and upcoming business, including impact on constituency
  • Ensure MP is fully briefed on potential questions and motions
  • Help draft amendments for reports and prepare briefing material
  • Monitor local, regional and national media coverage and social media activity and brief MP on relevant issues/trends
  • Prepare briefing notes e.g. for committees
  • Work with colleagues in communications/casework to identify potential impacts from research work and disseminate effectively

Policy, Campaign and Constituent Engagement

  • Work with Policy Assistant to advise on policy issues
  • Assist Senior Caseworkers on management of cases
  • Engage confidentially, professionally, with care and integrity with members of the public through telephone enquiries, social media, email and face-to-face interactions
  • Maintain positive ongoing relationships with all parties, including members of the public, groups, suppliers and Westminster

Administrative Management

  • Constituency diary management and generalist admin support
  • Respond to routine correspondence and enquiries
  • Role holder may need to work outside of normal working hours and travel for work occasionally
