Job Details

Mark Tami MP for Alyn & Deeside is looking for an enthusiastic new member to join our
small team. They will share responsibility for the day-to-day service to constituents to meet the increased volume of correspondence.
The successful applicant will share Mark’s determination to deliver fair and just
results for his constituents. They will have a strong work ethic, be self-motivated, well
organised and reliable. They will be able to manage a large workload in a prompt,
accurate and confidential manner.
Experience in an elected member’s office (and of caseworker.mp database system) would be an advantage. Candidates should demonstrate good listening and communication skills including dealing with difficult or distressed clients.
A knowledge of and an active interest in politics is an advantage and candidates should be sympathetic to the aims and values of the Labour Party. The ability to communicate in the Welsh language would be an advantage.

This is a full-time post but we are open to applications from experienced candidates who wish to discuss part-time hours. We are committed to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion and welcome applications from all backgrounds. 


The successful applicant will be expected to:
1. Manage a large caseload, working in a professional, confidential, caring and sensitive manner
2. Engage professionally, confidentially with care and integrity with members of the public, through telephone enquiries, social media, emails and face to face
3. Liaise with Government agencies, voluntary sector and others to resolve constituency matters
4. Ensure all cases are logged; monitor progress and ensure all identified
actions are taken and information managed confidentially in line with data
protection legislation
5. Assist with surgeries, other community meetings and outreach and follow
up as appropriate.
6. Provide general administrative support and respond to routine
correspondence and enquiries.
7. Carry out any other reasonable duties related to supporting the work of an
MP as required

Interview/Start Dates

Interviews will be held in early June in Deeside. Reasonable expenses will be offered to candidates who travel to interview.

The post will commence as soon as possible (dependent on any notice period for successful applicant)
