Job Details
Adnan Hussain, Independent Alliance MP for Blackburn, is seeking an organised and efficient Constituency Support Manager to ensure the highest level of service for his constituents.
Your excellent administrative and organisational skills will ensure that Adnan is kept up to date with all constituency matters, collating information and using your judgement to escalate urgent matters when necessary. This position would suit someone who is used to managing competing priorities and a varied workload. No two days are the same in a constituency office. The work is both interesting and rewarding; however, it requires stamina and flexibility, given the large and demanding workload.
Formal Job Description
• Liaise with government agencies, voluntary sector, and others to resolve constituency matters.
• Take initial action on queries from members of the public, including responding on behalf of the MP as appropriate
• Develop knowledge in specialist areas
• Ensure online presence is meeting the demands of the constituents, the locality and the MP
• Research local, regional or national issues to support MPs work.
• Engage professionally, confidentially with care and integrity with members of the public, through telephone enquiries, social media, emails, and face-to-face.
• Maintain positive on-going relationships with all parties including members of the public, groups, suppliers, and Westminster where required.
• Work with colleagues in communications/casework to identify potential impacts from the research work and disseminate them effectively.
• Efficient data and file management to ensure the office complies with the data protection legislation
• Provide executive support to the MP and interest groups as required.
• Database management and using office software (e.g. Microsoft Office, Caseworker) to handle administrative cases
• Resource and project management responsibilities
• Liaise with suppliers when required regarding office supplies and security
• Analyse, evaluate, and interpret data to ensure the MP is accurately informed on key issues and is aware of trends.
• Lead and maintain a highly professional administrative support function for the MPs office.
