Job Details

Adnan Hussain, Independent Alliance MP for Blackburn, is seeking a Communications Officer to support his work in Parliament and Blackburn.

The ability for the Communications Officer to also chip in with supporting the Casework team from time to time would be beneficial.

Formal Job Description

  • Establish, monitor and update a social media and online presence in the constituency. Produce online graphics and video content, as well as publicising surgeries and news alerts etc.
  • Manage and monitor social media enquiries, dealing with cases that do not need to be transferred to a higher level. Ensure all enquiries are dealt with in a timely manner.
  • Manage the MPs website contents. 
  • Publicise the MPs parliamentary duties on social media. 
  • Establish a social media presence in the constituency and publicise surgeries etc. 
  • Responsible for the management and development of the external communication presence of the MP office. 
  • Ensure online presence is meeting the demands of the constituency, locality and MP. 
  • Evaluate the impact of external communications activity. 
  • Responsible for the management and development of the external communication presence of the MP Office.
  • Establish and develop appropriate strategies around social media and online presence in the constituency. Produce online graphics and video content, as well as publicising surgeries and news alerts.
  • Design and develop engaging, targeted content and messages across a range of channels. There may be requirement for the role holder to work outside of normal hours and travel for work occasionally.

Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
