Job Details

We are looking for a proactive and experienced Team Leader to manage the MP’s constituency office in Hartlepool. Political or parliamentary experience is not essential, and a degree is not necessary. Experience in HR and team management is essential.

You will oversee office operations, lead the team, manage budgets and HR, and support the MP in delivering a high-quality service to constituents.

Key responsibilities:

• Lead and maintain a highly professional administrative support function for the MP’s office.

• Manage the Casework team, fostering a culture of excellence and learning. Lead the constituency team to achieve the best results possible for Hartlepool day-to-day.

• Ensuring accurate personnel records are kept & notify IPSA of contractual changes as necessary.

• Deal with security matters, keep abreast of security guidance, maintain the security system, liaise with external bodies as appropriate.

• Manage all aspects of the budget, keeping the MP informed of all relevant financial matters & liaising with IPSA on office finances.

• Have final signoff on all relevant delegated areas from the MP.

• Ensure the office is fully equipped.

• Support the casework team with management of complex casework alongside Political Lead.

• Anticipate what advice or action may be required; proactively identify problems and resolve them.

• Identify training opportunities and ensure the office team maintain and develop knowledge of relevant legislation where appropriate.

• Liaise with groups/personnel including at Westminster and within the constituency on the MP’s behalf as necessary.

• There may be requirement for the role holder to work outside of the normal working hours, including attending events with or on behalf of the MP as required.

• Experience of managing senior stakeholders

• Highly professional written and verbal communication

• Strong digital skills and organisation

• Excellent time management skills

• Discretion and professionalism

Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
