Andrew Lewin MP is recruiting for an intern to join his busy constituency office team in Welwyn Hatfield, starting in August.
Andrew is looking for a candidate who displays initiative, is willing to embrace a range of different tasks, is a team player and cares about public service.
The candidate will learn what it takes to run the office of an accessible and local MP and will work most closely with the casework team and the Head of Office. There will be at least two opportunities to visit Andrew’s office in Parliament, but this role will be based in Welwyn Garden City.
Main duties:
• Assisting with arrangements for events; this may include: venue research and bookings; compiling and managing guest-lists; liaising with suppliers; and providing on-the-day event support as required;
• Assisting on projects, including community campaigns and mailouts;
• Assisting with diary management
• Assisting with and learning how to manage casework;
• Assisting/learning how to monitor media coverage
• Supporting the Digital Communications Officer when filming video content with the MP
• Attending surgeries and other external meetings as part of training;
• General clerical duties, including data entry, post handling;
• Learning how to analyse, evaluate and interpret data;
• Learning and assisting with research tasks;
• Learning and assisting in drafting responses to constituents.
Essential criteria
• Able to travel to and from Welwyn Garden City for a 5 day working week, please note that commuting costs will not be paid in addition to the salary
• Available to begin the internship no later than Monday 27th January
Desirable criteria
• A-Level or equivalent qualifications
• Prior experience of working or volunteering with a community group or charity
• Lives in the Welwyn Hatfield parliamentary constituency
Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.

Interviews will take place on Thursday 12th June. The successful candidate will be required to start as soon as possible after 8th August.
