Job Details

John Healey MP is looking for a committed and capable individual to join his busy constituency office team as a Caseworker.
This is a full-time, permanent role (subject to successful probation), working as part of a small, experienced and supportive team serving residents throughout the Rawmarsh & Conisbrough constituency. You’ll be helping people with the problems they face, making sure their concerns are dealt with properly and liaising with a wide range of organisations.

Job Description:
• Manage and resolve a personal caseload of constituent enquiries, ensuring timely, empathetic and high-quality responses.
• Draft clear and appropriate correspondence to constituents and third parties (e.g. government departments, local authorities, housing associations, businesses).
• Maintain and update case records on the casework management system, ensuring all actions are recorded and followed up in line with office processes.
• Handle personal data with care and in full compliance with the Data Protection Act and GDPR.
• Keep up to date with relevant legislation and local services, particularly in relation to housing, welfare, health and public services.
• Identify patterns and themes in casework and escalate issues to the Head of Office where appropriate.
• Respond sensitively and promptly to urgent or challenging cases, using judgment and seeking advice when needed.
• Assist with preparation for constituency surgeries and provide follow-up support after meetings.
• Attend local events or meetings alongside the MP or other team members, occasionally representing the office.
• Contribute to briefings, reports, and policy responses by sharing relevant insights from casework.
• Work collaboratively as part of a small team, supporting shared priorities, office administration, and community engagement work.
• Help monitor local media, community conversations, and incoming casework to identify issues that may require a political or communications response.

Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
