The Conservative Environment Network (CEN) is the independent forum for conservatives in the UK and around the world who support net zero, nature restoration, and resource security.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and organised individual to work on our influential climate and clean air programme, supporting our parliamentary caucus and councillor network to champion conservative policy solutions for tackling air pollution and climate change.
This is an exciting and critical time to shape conservative clean air policy following the general election. The successful candidate will help us hold the new government to account on their statist approach to improving air quality, develop popular conservative clean air campaigns, and grow support for improving air quality across the conservative movement.
This role is ideal for anyone looking to work in the UK conservative movement and with a strong interest in clean air policy. The successful candidate will report to the Senior Climate and Clean Air Programme Manager and will have the opportunity to work across clean air and climate policy.
The successful applicant will undertake the following tasks and responsibilities:
- Research and write parliamentary briefings on clean air policy issues.
- Support the creation and execution of clean air policy campaigns.
- Support on key outputs for CEN’s clean air programme, including organising clean air events, recruitment for CEN’s Councillor Network, researching and writing local case studies on clean air, and drafting publications and policy options papers.
- Monitor parliamentary activity on clean air policy.
- Monitor and engage with new research and campaigns in clean air policy.
- Respond to CEN Caucus and councillor queries on clean air policy.
- Support clean air-related social media outputs and other digital activities.
- Research and write councillor briefings.
- Write for the CEN blog and other media outlets.
- Support the wider work of CEN’s climate and clean air team.
Person specification:
- A passion for and understanding of conservative environmentalism.
- A good awareness of and interest in UK politics and clean air policy debates.
- Able to work within a small team and to complete tasks independently and confidently.
- Excellent writing skills and a strong academic record.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.

Interview/Start Dates
We will invite a small number of successful applicants to submit a written task and attend an interview week commencing 23rd June - this will involve a discussion of your motivations for applying, relevant past experience, and interest in clean air policy.
