Preet is looking for a talented, enthusiastic & resourceful communications & campaigns officer.

The role would suit someone with passion & drive to help Preet campaign for causes that improve the lives of her constituents.

The range of issues is broad in a constituency that stretches from inner city Birmingham to the city’s limits and the M5.

Some evening & weekend work will be required. Access to a car is desirable.

You will work with the constituency assistant & caseworkers to ensure that residents’ concerns are acted on in a timely manner.

Summary of Duties. 

• Produce Video, written & Other Digital Content for Social Media channels and Website.
• Media monitoring every day
• Grow social media following
• Finding media opportunities local and national
• Identifying comms opportunities through casework
• Looking at what’s coming up in Parliament to identify opportunities for comms/campaigns
• Managing various campaigns
• Drafting and issuing press releases/comments/statements/news articles
• Drafting posts for social media/managing multiple accounts
• Organising media appearances
• Writing Policy / media briefings
• Writing letters to Ministers, stakeholders and constituents
• Updating the website and other digital platforms with blog posts, letters, videos etc
• Production of campaign literature such as leaflets, posters and graphics
• Weekly Newsletter sent to almost 3,000 subscribers
• Producing videos for social media of Parliamentary debates/media appearances/weekly roundups
• Digital campaigns
• Co-ordinating street surgeries, then writing to the relevant constituents.
• Planning casework (planning applications etc)
• Supporting with research
• Advising on comms/producing comms plans

Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
