Purpose
The Public Affairs Manager will report directly into Flood Re’s Director of Corporate Affairs to deliver and support external stakeholder engagement with UK Parliament and Devolved Administrations. With the role covering a wide range of initiatives to support Flood Re’s purpose.
Principal Responsibilities
Understand and contribute to all Flood Re communication initiatives, ensuring appropriate internal and external stakeholders are engaged, ensuring effective communications and building relationships with Parliament, Government, external organisations and across all parties.
Manage day to day relationships and activities of external public affairs agency.
- Work alongside the Communications Manager to provide integrated communications plans and advice.
- Provide briefings for senior staff on individuals, organisations and issues.
- Public affairs and external communication
- Develop and implement a Public Affairs Strategy; aliging to company objectives.
- Provide support to the Director of Corporate Affairs on development and delivering of public affairs plans that should intregrate with public relations, media and communications plans.
- Draft briefing materials for select committees in collaboration with Flood Re team.
- Refine Flood Re’s stakeholder map and to prioritise, segment and record all stakeholder engagement activities for the organisation
- Manage engagement with the devolved parliaments and institutions in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
- External event management and attendance
- Working with Communications manager, coordinate agendas, stakeholders and content for Flood Re events
- Attend conferences, external meetings and internal Flood Re related activities.
Knowledge and Experience
Excellent communication skills and confidence to build relationships and present clearly to a range of audiences.
- Excellent written communications skills in preparing briefings, reports, press releases, blogs and articles for publication.
- Experience and knowledge of Parliament, Government or Public Affairs.
- Background in research and have an interest in public policy ideally concerning resilience, climate change, and flood mitigation.
- Analytic skills, attention to detail, an inquisitive mind and a rigorous approach.
- Self-starter with focus and drive.
