Key Responsibilities
- Create and curate the communications grid for the MP’s office, ensuring that there is a short- and medium-term schedule in place. Utilise horizon planning to maximise the efficacy of the communications strategy.
- Establish, monitor and update social media and online platforms (Facebook, X Instagram, BlueSky and more).
- Monitor social media sentiment across residents’ groups, including queries and comments in reaction to the MP’s accounts.
- Manage and monitor social media enquiries, dealing with cases that do not need to be transferred to a higher level. Ensure all enquiries are dealt with in a timely manner.
- Manage Yuan’s MP website.
- Produce online graphics and video content, as well as publicising surgeries and news alerts etc.
- Quickly edit and caption video clips of Yuan speaking in parliament and prepare them for online dissemination, as well as completing other ad hoc video editing.
- Monitor media coverage, liaise with media, prepare press releases as required (on constituency, non-party-political matters).
- Produce press releases, liaise with the media, meeting deadlines as appropriate. This includes engaging and maintaining a network of regional and national journalists, as well as writing and pitching Op Eds.
- Draft newspaper columns, monthly digital newsletters and quarterly print newsletters.
- Manage the distribution of newsletters and other leaflets; maintain contact databases for mailing lists.
- Prepare briefings for broadcast media; organise and support Yuan with broadcast appearances.
- Take photos and videos of the MP at events in the constituency and in Parliament, with appropriate staging and framing of photos, and consent-gathering for those appearing in photos.
Other responsibilities
- Actively contribute to prioritisation discussions in the office, attending frequent alignment meetings.
- Assist with the organisation and running of MP coffee mornings and other events and follow up as appropriate.
- Attend constituency meetings and media interviews.
- Draft responses to policy enquiries.

Interviews will be held on Wednesday 30th July, before this, applicants will receive a timed written task to complete and return.
The successful applicant will start at the earliest possible opportunity, depending on notice periods and other commitments.
Application Details
This role would be based either in Yuan’s Westminster office or her constituency office, with travel between the two every week. During parliamentary recess, you will spend more time in the constituency. There is flexibility around whether this role is full time (1.0) or part time (0.8 or 0.9)
