Job Details
The Constitution Society is an independent, non-party educational foundation that works to promote
informed debate about constitutional reform. The Constitution Society currently supports the
Campaign for Compulsory Voting, which launched in July 2025.
The Campaign for Compulsory Voting works to promote the idea of compulsory voting, and to push
for its introduction for UK general elections.
The Constitution Society is now looking to hire a proactive, well-organised, and politically astute
individual to take over the strategic leadership and day-to-day management of the Campaign for
Compulsory Voting. The Campaign Manager will be based in London, but with the option of hybrid
and flexible working arrangements.
This role offers the opportunity to help build the campaign from the ground up and work for fairer,
more representative democracy in the UK.
Specific duties will include:
- Making the case for compulsory voting in a wide variety of different forums
- Developing and implementing a parliamentary outreach strategy
- Cultivating a network of high-profile supporters
- Media outreach and engagement
- Managing and updating the campaign website
- Organising public events
- Managing social media campaigning
- Database management
Essential criteria:
- Excellent organisational skills, including the ability to work independently and balance
multiple projects with competing deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to build and manage relationships with
external supporters and stakeholders
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to write clear and
engaging briefings and press releases, accessible to politicians, policy-makers, the media and
the wider public
- A highly developed understanding of UK politics, including issues of constitutional and
democratic reform, and the case for compulsory voting
- Previous experience of organising events
- Previous experience in campaigning
Desirable criteria:
- Previous experience of parliamentary procedure or as part of a political party
- Experience utilising a range of social media platforms to deliver key messages
- Proficiency in database management
- Proficiency with video editing software and graphics software
