Job Details
MPs receive a very large volume of correspondence each day, and responding to this will be at the heart of your role. Every day you’ll take the lead in drafting professional, politically astute and timely replies to emails, letters, and survey responses. You will help to answer questions, raise issues with Government departments, and communicate the position of the MP. You’ll develop a fantastic knowledge of the local issues across the Dunstable and Leighton Buzzard constituency and Government policy.
In this role you will:
- Lead on replying to members of the public who have let their MP know their views on a variety of issues
- Reply to members of the public with problems and concerns (recess only)
- Collate information for briefings and events
- Design social media graphics and schedule posts
- Compile reports for the MP
- Take on projects eg. Overseeing a Jobs Summit
- Organise visits and events with a press angle
- Other administrative tasks as determined by Head of Office
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Excellent written skills
- Familiarity with and commitment to Labour values and policy priorities.
- Motivation to work proactively and independently within a small team
- Experience of a fast paced environment
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage competing demands
- Attention to detail
- Desirable:
- Previous experience in policy, public affairs or political campaigning.
- Knowledge of issues affecting Dunstable and Leighton Buzzard constituency or a willingness to learn.
- Experience producing digital content.
- Demonstrated research ability
Applicants should have a proven commitment to the aims of the Labour Party and trade union movement.
This role requires at least two days in the Leighton Buzzard constituency office with the rest possible to work from home. This is a full time role but we are open to part-time / job share applications.
