Job Title: Policy and Parliamentary Affairs Manager
Working For: The Foreign Policy Centre
Location: London
Salary: £38-43,000, dependent on experience and career level.
Length of Contract: Fixed term for 12 months, with potential to extend after a year.
Job Details
The Foreign Policy Centre (FPC) is an independent, non-partisan international affairs think tank based in the UK. The Policy and Parliamentary Affairs Manager would lead the FPC's parliamentary engagement, maximising opportunities to connect policy makers with FPC’s network of experts, supporting the development of policy recommendations as well as helping to inform public debate on key foreign policy issues to ensure the effective delivery of our mission.
This role will require significant experience (5+ years) of Parliamentary affairs, a strong understanding of Parliamentary and governmental processes and knowledge of how to best facilitate the timely input of expertise from FPC’s fellows, advisers and partners into decision making on UK foreign policy. The successful candidate will have the ability to pull from an established network of parliamentary, governmental, civil service and diplomatic contacts, as well as possessing the skills to grow FPC’s profile as the go-to think tank in our field for policy makers from all parties in Westminster, Whitehall, and beyond.
Excellent communications skills will be vital to convey information to different audiences, including public facing outputs that will support wider understanding of Parliamentary and decision-making processes, and other relevant developments, in our focus areas.
This role will also involve supporting FPC’s Director, Communications and Research Manager, and Communications and Projects Officer to develop and disseminate our research and outputs, including publications and events, creating open and accessible spaces – online and offline – for the exchange of knowledge, ideas and experience on our focus themes. Depending on FPC’s ongoing areas of work there may also be a role in managing some of our projects. Thematic areas of interest currently include transnational repression, transatlantic relations, media freedom, anti-corruption and authoritarianism.
Since April 2025, FPC also serves as the secretariat of the APPG for Anti-Corruption and Responsible Tax. The APPG’s work is delivered by a dedicated Senior coordinator and Assistant, but this role is also expected to provide ad hoc support and assistance as needed.
