We are seeking a proactive and skilled Press and Communications Officer to support Andrew Rosindell MP (Shadow Minister for Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Affairs) in managing his public profile, communications, and media presence. This role requires flexibility with irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, and involves attending events locally and nationally alongside the MP.

The successful candidate will ideally have press/communications experience and a working knowledge of current foreign, national and local policy issues.

Key Responsibilities:

• Accompany the MP to events across Westminster, Romford, and nationally as required
• Research, analyse, and interpret local, national, and foreign affairs news to keep the MP well-informed and supported
• Work collaboratively with other staff to cover foreign, local, and national issues effectively
• Assist with local events and public meetings, including publicising and following up as needed
• Develop targeted content and messaging across multiple channels, including social media and the MP’s website
• Establish and maintain a strong online presence tailored to constituents and the MP’s objectives
• Create engaging graphics, video content, and news alerts to enhance communications
• Monitor and respond to media coverage and social media queries promptly and professionally
• Prepare press releases and media briefings on constituency and political matters
• Support the MP’s parliamentary duties through proactive publicity and communications
• Manage communications with local and national media outlets to promote the MP’s work and public engagement

Additional Information:

• The role involves irregular working hours, including evenings and weekends
• Frequent travel to local and national events will be required

Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
