Job Details
Rebecca Paul MP is seeking a Communications Officer to join her team and support her in media relations, content creation, digital communications, external communication and strategic planning. Customer Relationship Management is important. You will be part of a small, driven and energetic team that is characterised by enthusiasm, self-motivation and adaptability.
Key responsibilities:
- Design and develop engaging, targeted content and messages across a range of channels.
- Ensure records are kept and information managed confidentially and in line with data protection legislation.
- Further develop the MP’s social media presence, utilising appropriate platforms to connect with various audiences.
- Establish and develop appropriate strategies around social media and online presence in the constituency.
- Produce online graphics and video content, as well as publicising events and news alerts.
- Utilise CRM software to enable the MP to communicate directly with constituents on issues that they have opted in to receive updates about.
- Monitor media coverage, liaise with media, prepare press releases as required on constituency, non-constituency political matters.
- Ensure all online platforms, including the website, CRM and social media are maintained, regularly updated and utilised so that news and information from the MP is as accessible as possible.
- Prepare media briefings.
- Responsible for the management and development of the external communication presence of the MP office.
- Build positive stakeholder relationships with journalists and local councillors.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills – these may be tested at interview
- Strong organisational abilities with attention to detail
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a small team
- Empathetic approach with strong interpersonal skills
- Good knowledge of IT systems
Additional information:
Some work outside normal office hours will be required. Occasional travel to the constituency may be necessary.
