Kate Dearden MP is offering a part-time opportunity based in her Halifax constituency office, with occasional travel to Parliament. This role is ideal for someone with a strong interest in politics and digital communications who is looking to build hands-on experience in a fast-paced political environment.

The successful applicant will take the lead on scripting, filming, and editing video content for the MP’s social media channels, and will be responsible for creating graphics and visuals that communicate key messages clearly and creatively. You’ll be expected to use your own initiative and design sense to develop content ideas and find new ways to present political updates.

Key Responsibilities
• Script, film, and edit short-form video content for platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, Twitter/X, and Facebook
• Design and produce graphics to support digital messaging and campaigns
• Use your creative judgement to propose new formats, content ideas, and ways of communicating complex information clearly
• Assist with shaping messaging around fast-moving political issues
• Work with constituency stakeholders and campaign teams to support public communications

Essential Skills and Experience
• Demonstrable experience in creating video content from start to finish, including filming, editing, and posting on social channels
• Strong graphic design skills and proficiency with tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud, Final Cut Pro, CapCut, or similar
• A creative approach to content and visual storytelling
• Good political awareness and sound judgement
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt tone and format for different audiences
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet tight deadlines

Desirable
• Experience in a political or campaign environment
• Understanding of the UK political landscape and parliamentary process
• Familiarity with analytics tools, paid advertisements and content performance tracking
