Job Details

David Pinto-Duschinsky MP is looking to recruit a Stakeholder Officer to be based in his North london constituency, but will also involve working from Parliament at least one day a week. This is an exciting opportunity both to work at the heart of Parliament and see how that translates into impact on the ground in the constituency.


The primary focus of the role will be on managing constituency engagement and building relationships with different stakeholders and groups across the constituency, as well as helping organise local activities, events and helping deal with some constituent enquiries.

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

• Lead work on stakeholder mapping and management in constituency. Help build relationships and contacts to support Hendon’s diverse communities
• Lead community outreach and pro-active engagement
• Help develop, organise and deliver a programme of stakeholder events
• Help with policy casework
• Assist in writing external communications including speeches for the MP, public communications with key stakeholders etc
• Develop and maintain current knowledge on relevant areas of parliamentary business. This would include issues of importance both nationally and in the local constituency.
• Have working knowledge of relevant legislation and upcoming business including how they impact on the constituency
• Prepare and present briefing notes for committees, parliamentary questions etc.
• Collaborate with colleagues leading on casework to find Parliamentary opportunities to highlight issues raised in casework
• Possible requirement for the role holder to work outside of normal working hours and travel for work occasionally

 

Person specification

Essential:
• Highly organised and well structured, with strong organisational skills
• Min 1-2 years previous work experience
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce high-quality briefings and comms material
• Experience managing stakeholders/dealing with complex stakeholder environments; able to develop good relationships with people
• Comfort working in a fast-paced environment


Desirable:
• Previous experience working in an MPs office/political environment
• Sympathy with the aims and values of the Labour Party
