Salary: IPSA pay range is £29,727 – £46,381 dependent on experience

Job Details
Afzal is looking for a highly motivated individual with excellent skills in: press; communication; creative social media content; and, use of social media tools, to support his constituency work. The role includes drafting press releases and engaging social media content, as well as supporting with constituency engagement through casework. The successful candidate will be responsible for effectively communicating Afzal’s work to constituents, the press, and stakeholders via traditional and social media.
The successful candidate will:
• Be an instinctive creative bursting with ideas
• Understand how different platforms can be used in communicating with the ability to alter style and tone appropriately
• Monitor traditional and social media coverage, liaise with media, prepare press releases as required
• Design and develop engaging, targeted content and messages across a range of channels
• Manage the MP’s website contents
• Establish an engaging social media presence and develop appropriate strategies to ensure there is a high-quality online presence in the constituency; making sure it meets the demands of constituents, the locality and the MP
• Evaluate the impact of external communications activity
• Research local, regional or national issues to support MPs’ work, and provide briefing when necessary
• There may be requirement for the role holder to work outside of normal hours and travel for work occasionally
• Willing to learn and carry out constituency casework
Key Skills and Experience
• Strong organisational skills, ability to work under pressure, prioritise work, and meet deadlines
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Knowledge of producing traditional and electronic materials, including flyers, reports and surveys for use in constituent communications
• Good IT skills and willingness to use new systems
• Experience of digital video production software for digital content is desirable, including Canva
• Sympathetic to the aims and values of the Labour Party
• Knowledge and experience of working in a political or fast-paced environment is an advantage
This is a full time role and to be based in the Whalley Range, Manchester Office
