Job Details

We are Spinal Injuries Association (SIA) - the expert, guiding voice on life after spinal cord injury. Every year in the UK, more than 4,700 people are diagnosed with a spinal cord injury, turning their lives, and their families’ lives, upside down.

Our aim is to reach everyone with a spinal cord injury, to tackle whatever barriers they face, and to connect them to all the help and support they need to flourish in their lives, in the way they want and choose.

This is an exceptional opportunity to gain first hand experience of policy making and influencing decision makers, and develop your expertise alongside a team of nationally recognised campaigners. It is a career shaping role for someone passionate about using evidence and lived experience to drive change.

As policy coordinator at the Spinal Injuries Association, you will play a key role in helping us achieve our vision of a fulfilled life for everyone affected by spinal cord injury (SCI). Working within the communications and campaigns team, you will shape policy positions across health and social care, housing, employment, benefits, and wider areas that impact the SCI community. You will ensure the voices of people with spinal cord injured are heard, valued and acted upon, driving meaningful policy change at both national and regional levels.

This role involves analysing policy developments, preparing evidence-based briefings, coordinating policy engagement with NHS England and government, building strategic relationships, and supporting wider campaigning and influencing activity. You will join a passionate, supportive and friendly team, committed to securing tangible impact for the SCI community.
