Based in the City of London, Bridgehead Communications is a leading political and media communications consultancy.

We are looking to recruit an intern to work for an eight-week period. The role is well suited to a recent graduate or someone looking to embark on a career in political and media communications.

The successful candidate will have strong written and communication skills, a demonstrable interest in politics and the media. They will work directly with the Managing Director, regularly engage with clients, develop an understanding of specialist policy areas, draft comment articles for publication in the national, online and trade media and contribute thoughts and ideas to client strategy discussions.

What you’ll gain

As an intern at Bridgehead Communications, you will:

  • Work closely with the Managing Director on live client projects.
  • Gain hands-on experience in media relations, political engagement and policy research.
  • Develop knowledge of specialist policy areas across education, skills, social care and entrepreneurship.
  • Contribute directly to client strategies, ideas and campaigns.

Key responsibilities

You will be involved in a wide variety of tasks, including:

  • Media and parliamentary monitoring.
  • Updating and managing client social media channels.
  • Tracking political events and supporting forward planning.
  • Researching policy and business issues.
  • Drafting opinion pieces, press releases and media comments.
  • Editing and preparing client articles for publication.
  • Engaging with journalists and MPs’ offices.
  • Supporting event planning and organisation.
  • Preparing briefing notes and proposals for clients.

  • A demonstrable interest in politics, policy and the media.
  • Research skills and attention to detail.
  • Initiative, creativity and the ability to contribute ideas in a team setting.

Interview/Start Dates

The role is available immediately. The successful applicant may be appointed before the closing date. Interviews will take place on a rolling basis.
