Job Details
Luke is looking for a dynamic, creative and digitally skilled communications officer to join his team. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in shaping how Luke communicates with constituents and stakeholders, both locally and nationally.
The successful candidate will lead on digital communications and content creation, helping to amplify Luke’s work in Parliament and the local community.
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage and grow Luke’s social media presence across platforms, ensuring timely, engaging and informative content.
• Create high-quality digital content including graphics, short-form videos, and written posts tailored to different audiences.
• Film and edit video content using video editing software, and design visual materials using Canva and similar tools.
• Develop and implement creative ideas and campaigns to increase reach and engagement.
• Draft press releases and liaise with local and regional media outlets
• Support Luke’s local campaigning, community engagement and outreach activities.
• Monitor analytics and trends to inform strategy and improve engagement.
Essential Skills & Attributes:
• Strong understanding of social media platforms, trends and audience engagement.
• Proven experience in video editing and graphic design.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, take initiative and bring fresh ideas.
• Sympathetic to the aims and values of the Labour Party.
Desirable:
• Experience in community campaigning.
• Familiarity with Basingstoke and local issues or willing to learn.
This is a part-time role (4 days/week), with some flexibility in working hours required, including occasional evening or weekend work to support events or campaigns. The role will be based in our Basingstoke office but some travel to Westminster will be required. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, digitally fluent, and passionate about making a difference through effective communication.
