Job Details

The Private Secretary's Office supports The King in his constitutional, governmental and political duties, working to engage the public with The King’s role and work in the UK and overseas.

You will join the Secretariat, a dedicated team who provide analytical research, planning and policy guidance to The King's Private Secretaries and other Royal Household departments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • You’ll manage both internal and external requests for information under information access legislation.
  • Collating and reviewing a range of information sources, you’ll produce summaries and reports for different audiences and undertake statistical analysis. Responsible for smaller-scale research and analysis projects on designated topics, you’ll support planning and decision-making.
  • Providing administrative support to the team, you will manage calendars and keep accurate and up-to-date records.
  • As a key point of contact within the team, you will liaise with domestic and overseas Government Departments, public authorities and colleagues across the organisation on a daily basis.
  • Balancing the range of queries and deadlines will be challenging, which will stretch and develop your skills. And knowing that you’re providing vital support at the heart of this unique organisation will inspire you to deliver your very best.


Essential Criteria:

  • You will have a proven aptitude for research and analysis, including qualitative and quantitative skills.
  • Knowledge of the Freedom of Information Act and related legislation, along with a desire to build on your knowledge of current domestic and world affairs.
  • With an analytical mindset and exceptional attention to detail, you’ll be able to consume and review large volumes of information effectively, produce valuable summaries, often adapting your work to suit the needs of different audiences.
  • Digitally literate with a good knowledge of databases and MS Office programs.
  • Highly organised with a methodical approach to work, you will be able to multitask and manage your own workload and deliver to tight deadlines.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills are essential as you will need to liaise confidently and effectively with a range of people across the organisation and externally.
