Job Details
Your primary role will be to assist people facing cancellation, investigation or punishment for something they have said. You will be the designated point of contact with members who have brought cases and queries to us, guiding them through the crisis they are dealing with, taking advice from colleagues as needed. We will provide the successful applicant with both dedicated training and ongoing support.
In addition to managing your own cases, you will assist with responding to general queries about the FSU’s stance on issues of the day. You will also provide administrative support to the Director with managing a very large volume of information to ensure high priority cases are tracked and updated, and with generating weekly reports.
The work will be busy and varied. It requires intelligence, empathy, quick thinking and a commitment to protecting free speech, as well as a sense of humour. Expectations are high, but do not be put off applying if you cannot match every single aspect of the job specification: we want to hear from highly capable, committed people who are willing to learn
Responsibilities:
- Investigating new cases, establishing facts, points of contention, and identifying key characters, including carrying out social media and background checks.
- Corresponding with protagonists and stakeholders, either using your own judgement or being guided by the Director of Case Management, using appropriate tone, syntax and grammar.
- Drafting key documents for the member’s case, e.g. statements for employment meetings, written appeals, letters and other correspondence as needed.
- Prioritising the interests of the member when handling a case, understanding how to balance legal, political and media considerations.
- Recognising which cases and queries need to be handled sensitively, seeking guidance when appropriate.
- Filing all correspondence and documents using our Salesforce system.
- Assisting the Director of Case Management as needed with administrative matters,
- Providing good service to members, managing expectations sensitively and communicating clearly; this requires awareness of the scope and remit of what the FSU can and cannot do.
