Job Details
About us
The Professional Publishers Association (PPA) is the voice of UK magazine media. From Vogue and Empire to leading B2B brands, our 250+ members shape culture, inform policy and connect communities.
About the role
This is a step up from an Executive role. As Policy & Public Affairs Officer, you’ll own defined workstreams and represent the PPA to policymakers. You’ll lead consultations, write high-quality briefings and position papers, coordinate coalitions and help deliver our UK public-affairs strategy across Westminster. You’ll brief senior colleagues and members, and deputise for the Head of Policy & Public Affairs when needed.
You’ll lead public-affairs activity on supply chains (including the EU Deforestation Regulation, EUDR), postal services (service quality and pricing) and the BBC Charter Review — building relationships with policymakers, regulators and partners.
What you’ll do
• Monitor & analyse: Track political and regulatory developments; turn complex updates into clear, timely insight for members.
• Write & influence: Draft consultation responses and submissions; prepare concise briefings for Ministers, MPs, officials and regulators.
• Lead your portfolios: Own policy on EUDR/sustainability and postal services policy & pricing; lead PPA positions on the BBC Charter Review.
• Engage & represent: Build relationships with parliamentarians, officials and regulators; represent the sector at meetings and roundtables.
• Deliver with impact: Help execute the public-affairs plan; coordinate member working groups and coalitions; track progress.
Who we’re looking for
• Understanding of UK politics; experience in policy analysis, monitoring and stakeholder engagement.
• Excellent communicator; able to distil complex policy into clear, actionable messaging.
• Proactive, organised and calm under pressure.
• Confident relationship-builder with external credibility.
Nice to have: experience in sustainability, postal and/or supply-chain policy; membership bodies or regulated industries; EU/international policy.
What we offer
• Hybrid working in a supportive, collaborative culture.
• Networking via PPA/Magnetic events and briefings.
• Professional development with opportunities to own projects and build subject-matter expertise.
Closing Date: 21 September 2025
