Job Title: Caseworker

Working For: Patrick Hurley MP (Southport)

Location: Southport

Salary: £23,810 - £37,846 depending on experience

Length of Contract: 6 months in the first instance

Job Details

Key responsibilities:

  • Deal with large numbers of standard queries, as well as assisting on more complex cases from members of the public by phone, email, social media or face to face. Ongoing communication may be required
  • Gather relevant information to assist with resolving cases
  • Ensure that each case is dealt with promptly, sensitively, confidentially and accurately in accordance with the MP
  • Draft responses to constituents
  • Log all cases; monitor progress and ensure all identified actions are taken
  • Retain records and information confidentially and in line with the Data Protection Act
  • Assist at surgeries and other meetings and follow up as appropriate
  • Other tasks as may be required by the MP
  • There may be a requirement for the role holder to work outside of the normal working hours and travel for work occasionally

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent written English
  • Able to learn and use the written voice of the MP
  • Sympathetic to the aims and values of the Labour Party
  • A can-do and proactive attitude
  • Previous political experience is not essential
  • Personable and able to easily engage with people from all backgrounds
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Experience of working as part of a team
