Zarah Sultana MP is looking to recruit a highly motivated individual to join her constituency team in Coventry South as a Senior Caseworker covering a period of maternity leave.
Applications are strongly encouraged from applicants who are BAME, with protected characteristics, or residents of Coventry and surrounding areas. The role will be a hybrid role based in the Coventry South constituency office.

Job Description:

• Manage a large volume of queries, as well as very complex cases from members of the public by phone, email and in person
• Supervise the Casework team
• Ensure all cases are dealt with promptly, sensitively, confidentially and accurately
• Ensure that all cases and decisions are properly documented and monitored
• Draft and send responses to constituents, Ministers, government departments, other organisations and agencies
• Ensure records are kept and information managed confidentially in line with data protection legislation
• Gather relevant information to assist with resolving cases
• Ensure timely progress of cases and all identified actions are taken
• Organise and manage advice surgeries and follow up with appropriate action
• Take overall responsibility for output of casework
• Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of relevant policy and legislation
• Regularly audit caseworkers cases
• Analyse patterns of enquiries and produce monthly reports
• Accompany the MP to constituency events
• Triage MP’s in boxes
• Manage MP’s constituency appointments
• Update and maintain our internal casework process, and share updates with caseworkers
• Ensure local stakeholder correspondence is logged appropriately

Desirable Skills:

• Previous experience of casework, ideally for an MP, as well substantial experience working and dealing with the public is essential
• Knowledge of immigration, housing and the benefit system is essential
• Clear and concise writing style and excellent interpersonal skills
• Ability to carry out tasks quickly and to a high standard
• Self-starter with demonstrable initiative
• Ability to manage a large and varied caseload under pressure
• Experience using Caseworker.mp software is desirable
• An awareness of the functions of a Parliamentary office
