The Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) for Merseyside is an elected individual whose job it is to make sure Merseyside Police is run effectively and act as your voice on policing issues in the region.

As the Scrutiny and Research Officer, you will provide comprehensive advice and support to the Police & Crime Commissioner (PCC) and the OPCC Senior Management Team in areas of
scrutiny and performance.

Develop and deliver a performance management and scrutiny process to ensure that the PCC discharges their responsibility relating to scrutiny commensurate with all relevant legislation with particular emphasis on the objectives set out in their Police and Crime Plan.

To be responsible for all management, delivery and responsibilities associated with HMICFRS, other external reports and recommendations.

To maintain a clear understanding of strategic policing and community safety priorities of both the Police and Crime Commissioner and Merseyside Police.

To ensure that the work of the PCC and their office in relation to scrutiny and performance is effectively communicated with communities across Merseyside.

To provide analytical and research support the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC). The postholder will conduct both targeted research into specific legislative changes impacting upon areas of focus for the Commissioner and also broader horizon scanning to understand upcoming developments and relevant information for colleagues across the OPCC.
