Job Purpose
The analyst will be responsible for providing additional policy and research support
across the UK Finance sanctions and export controls portfolio. This will involve
working closely with the Director for Sanctions and Export Controls and direct
engagement with members, associate members, government officials and
international sanctions and export controls specialists.
This position provides a unique opportunity for those seeking to pursue a career
within the international sanctions and export controls environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Desk research and insights gathering on all matters related to sanctions and
export control developments, and in particular with respect to major sanctions
programmes such as Russia, Iran, Syria, North Korea as well as the high-profile
thematic programmes such as terrorism and human rights.
• Monitoring and collating political and regulatory developments on relevant
sanctions and export controls policies in the UK, EU, US, UN and the wider
international community.
• Preparing member updates on sanctions, export controls developments,
inquiries and the passage of relevant legislation.
• Supporting UK Finance policy work on the application of UK sanctions within the
autonomous UK regime, including inputting into parliamentary activity,
preparation of policy updates and work with key stakeholders.
• Organising sanctions and export controls related roundtables and events with
members, government officials, global think tanks and UN representatives.
• Supporting the further development of the UK Finance sanctions and export
controls education series.
• Producing briefings, member content, updates and newsletters.
• Working across UK Finance structures to ensure sanctions and export controls
activity is included in briefing registers and forward work programmes.
• Reviewing publications, copy writing and editing.
• Ad hoc administrative tasks.
• Any other task that may reasonably be required.
