Job Details
Olly Glover, MP for Didcot and Wantage Constituency, is looking for an organised and reliable person with excellent communication skills, to join his constituency team on a fixed term contract.
The successful candidate will work with Olly and his team to provide information and support to local people, businesses and groups who require the support of their MP.
The ideal candidate will be organised, proactive and confident in communication with a wide range of people. No specific qualifications are required, but he is looking for someone with excellent written English, the skills to create engaging content for print and social media, and the ability to work under pressure.
You do not have to be a Liberal Democrat member to apply, but being comfortable with the party’s policies, campaigns, and approach to serving the community is crucial.
Key Responsibilities
Communications
• Plan, publish and monitor the MPs social media accounts and presence
• Produce social media assets and video content
• Manage and monitor social media enquiries, dealing with cases that do not need to be transferred to caseworkers
• Ensure all enquiries are dealt with in a timely manner
• Monitor media coverage and prepare press releases as required
• Organise and produce newsletters and other updates about the MPs work to share with the public and community groups
Constituency Support
• Manage the MP’s inbox and then allocate emails as required to other members of the team
• Manage the MP’s diary and arrange visits and meetings in the constituency
• Deal with large numbers of queries from colleagues, stakeholders and members of the public by email, phone, social media or face to face
• Gather relevant information to assist with resolving cases
• Assist surgeries and other meetings and follow up as appropriate
• Provide general administrative support for the constituency office
There may be a requirement for the postholder to work outside of the normal office hours and travel for work occasionally.
This role is being advertised as a full-time position (37.5 hours a week) but we would consider candidates interested in part-time hours (of 30 hours a week).
