                    Job Details
                    Alistair Carmichael MP is seeking to recruit a Parliamentary Assistant to join his team. The successful applicant will be expected to assist Mr Carmichael in the full range of his parliamentary duties but will lead on and take ownership of his policy casework responses and diary management.
The ability to communicate clearly with a good standard of written English is essential. Applicants should have a good knowledge of current politics and have good communication skills. An understanding of parliamentary and government processes is desirable but full training will be given to the successful applicants.
Funding is available for a full-time position but applications may be considered from those seeking part-time employment. The successful applicant will be based in the House of Commons, with some options for remote working in non-sitting periods (subject to performance).
Sympathy with the aims and policies of the Liberal Democrats is desirable.
