Job Description
Fantastic opportunity for someone with creative and content skills to join a small team and put their mark on the constituency communications output of Calum Miller MP. The postholder will build relationships with local media, understand the most effective local communications channels and help generate and curate social media content. They will also plan and manage a programme of local engagements, supporting Calum's role within the community and ensuring he is accessible and visible to residents and local organisations. This is a great job for someone who wants to grow their skills in a small, fast-paced and professional environment.
Main duties include
• Establish and build a great working relationship with local and regional media organisations, write press releases, and ensure regular coverage of Calum’s work
• Make a significant contribution to Calum’s social media and website presence and meet agreed targets to grow online engagement
• Take responsibility for the planning of impactful constituency visits and events
• Assist with diary management
• Proactively gather relevant information, be aware of constituents' concerns and find patterns of local or national issues to assist with developing campaigns and recommend appropriate campaign steps for Calum
• Undertake research and attend meetings as appropriate to develop Calum’s work
• Produce online graphics, videos and news alerts, etc. on Calum’s work
• Engage professionally, confidentially, with care and integrity with members of the public, through telephone enquiries, social media, emails, face to face, and to routine correspondence and enquiries from constituents, the media, lobbyists and pressure groups
• Work with colleagues and other relevant stakeholders to ensure Calum is well briefed prior to media engagement
• Assist with constituency meetings and surgeries, following up as appropriate
 
You may be required to work outside normal working hours and travel for work from time to time.
                    
                        
                        Upon appointment you will be required to comply with the Baseline Personnel Security Standard, undertaken by the Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO).
