About us:
Danu Insight is a specialist in large-scale data aggregation and analysis in the field of climate politics and climate finance.
We have used advanced data science and AI tools to analyse climate lobbying activities of 8,700 companies. Through this process, we have developed advanced pipelines that enable us to quickly aggregate, store, and analyse (using AI and data science) vast amounts of data. We have also pivoted to explore how our technology can be most effectively utilised to support NGOs working on influencing climate policy and climate litigation.
The position:
You will be working with Danu Insight’s Director, Thomas O’Neill, who previously co-founded InfluenceMap, a market-leading think-tank, as well as our project manager, who has an engineering background.
The work will include:
- Analysing climate policy and the financial sector on climate.
- Analysing corporations or financial institutions' products (i.e. funds) around climate change to create data to support a leading climate litigation NGO.
- Supporting the Director with communications and contributing proactively to our technical thinking.
- Working within Python to help scrape and analyse data efficiently
- Making extensive use of LLMs to augment our analysis.
Person Specification:
You must be able to think independently, be proactive, and be intellectually curious. You will be working as part of a small team, and will need to be adaptable to help contribute to quantitative and qualitative analysis. The position is suited to someone interested in a career in climate change, politics, think tanks, NGOs, finance, or AI.
Essential skills or attributes
- Highly analytical and able to discern complex problems
- Must be able to work and problem-solve independently.
- Interest in climate change, politics and AI.
- Willingness to learn and be adaptable.
Desirable skills or attributes
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Experience with Python and/or SQL
- Knowledge of ChatGPT/AI
What will you gain from the position?
You will be introduced to climate politics, the relationship between corporations and policymaking, and the functioning of the financial system.
