Key responsibilities

  • Lead and maintain a highly professional constituency office that keeps constituents at its heart
  • Lead and manage the office team, ensuring accurate personnel records are maintained and compliance with IPSA rules
  • Responsibility for managing all aspects of the budget, keeping the MP informed of all relevant financial matters and liasing wtih IPSA on office finance
  • Have final signoff on all relevant delegated areas from the MP, for example constituent correspondence and communication with partners and stakeholders
  • Horizon-scanning, anticipate what advice or action may be required; proactively idenfity problems and resolve them
  • Collate all required information from team members to present to the MP
  • Deal with security matters, keep abreast of security guidance, maintain secruity systems and liase with external bodies as appropriate 
  • Ensure the office is fully equipped
  • Identify training opportunitues and ensure the office team maintain and develop knowledge
  • Liaise with groups / personnel including at Westminster, within the constituency and the general public on the MPs behalf as necessary 
  • Have oversight of external stakeholder engagement and provide strategic advice on constituent matters on behalf of the MP where appropriate 
  • Provide high quality, efficient and effective support to the MP
  • Support and manage the recruitment of staff for the MPs office
  • Take ownership of certain casework as required 

There may be a requirement for the role holder to work outside of the normal working hours including attending occasional evening and Saturday events with the MP 

The role holder does not need to be a member of the Labour Party, but a commitment to the values of the Labour and Trade Union movement is desirable. 

Full time (37.5 hours per week)

Upon appointment you will be required to comply with the Baseline Personnel Security Standard, undertaken by the Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO). See Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO) page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.

Start date 5th January 2026 (NB an earlier start date is negotiable subject to security clearance)
