Make UK is the UK’s leading trade body for the manufacturing and engineering sector. Collectively we represent 20,000 companies of all sizes, from start-ups to multinationals, across engineering, manufacturing, technology and the wider industrial sector.

As Comms and Campaigns Adviser you will work across a range of projects to support
the policy and communications team to help deliver Make UK’s core campaigns. You will have a particular focus on policy report production and messaging, social media influence
including on behalf of Make UK’s Chair and Executive Director, and wider member comms.

Key responsibilities

• Working with the policy team to deliver impactful and influential policy reports and briefings using a variety of digital channels to maximise value and enhance the overall perception and experience of Make UK by partners
• Overseeing the production of Make UK’s policy reports and outputs (and where appropriate, recommending design cost efficiencies streamlining processes) 
• Distilling complex policy concepts into plain language Make UK members and the wider manufacturing industry to demonstrate the value of Make UK and its influence
• Designing and delivering external communications via reports, blogs, social media and other mechanisms
• Promoting Make UK’s messaging on social media including on behalf of Make UK’s Chair and Executive Director, when appropriate.
• Working with the policy, government affairs and membership teams to communicate policy changes and impacts to Make UK members 
• Increasing internal awareness of Make UK’s policy and campaigning activities 

Technical knowledge and experience

• A graduate (or equivalent) with at least three years’ experience working in a policy and/or communications role.
• A proven team player, used to managing a range of priorities to meet competing deadlines.
• Excellent relationship-building skills
• Willing to travel and work outside of normal office hours on occasion.
• Knowledge and understanding of policy/political campaigning
• Experience in social media would be an advantage but is not a core requirement of the role.
• Flexible approach to working in a small team
