What you'll be doing
You'll be responsible for building relationships with government policy makers and helping to develop the National Trust’s influence and policy impact.
You'll identify and advise on potential risks and opportunities that government policies will create for the Trust and work with National Trust staff and external partners to meet and address them. Supporting the Head of Public Policy, you'll need to build and maintain relationships with ministers, officials and sector partners, helping to identify who is key to support the National Trust’s agenda.
You’ll also be working to develop the National Trust’s views on public policy. You'll be drawing on evidence from the Trust’s own experiences and working with expert colleagues to put forward practical proposals for policy change, communicating these to a range of audiences and seeking to influence the debate.
Who we're looking for
- You’ll have experience of working on public policy issues, with a good understanding of our political system, government policy-making processes and how to influence policy outcomes.
- You’ll have experience of building and maintaining internal and external relationships, and be able to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders across different issues and priorities.
- You’ll have exceptional written and spoken communication skills, and the ability to interpret complex information and translate it into easily understandable content for a range of audiences.
- We’re particularly looking for applicants with experience of working on public policy relating to land use and environmental regulation; economic, cultural and social policy, including health and wellbeing; or local government and place-based policy making.
