Job Details
John Slinger, the Member of Parliament for Rugby, is offering an internship until the end of May 2026 to support him in his parliamentary office in Westminster.
The Intern will work with John’s Senior Parliamentary Assistant, as well as other members of John’s team, to provide an excellent service to Rugby constituents and to support both Constituency and Parliamentary work.
Impressive organisational skills, a clear focus on detail and a commitment to outstanding service are essential. A belief in the aims and values of the Labour Party is also essential and the position may involve some evening and weekend work. A strong link to Rugby is essential.
The Intern’s duties may cover some, or all, of the following:
• Assisting the Senior Parliamentary Assistant.
• Carrying out research into policy issues.
• Supporting policy casework.
• Supporting social media activity.
• Monitoring local and national issues.
• Assisting in organising events
The intern will work under the daily dierction of the Senior Parliamentary Assistant and take direction from the office manager as required.
Upon appointment you will be required to comply with the Baseline Personnel Security Standard, undertaken by the Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO). See Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO) page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
