Job Details
Lee Anderson MP is looking for a Constituency Support Officer to join his team and support his work in Ashfield. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about community engagement, local issues and public service.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assisting with arrangements for events; this may include venue research and bookings; compiling and managing guest-lists; liaising with suppliers; and providing on-the-day event support as required
• Handling administrative arrangements for meetings with members of the public/MP surgeries
• Photocopying, filing, record-keeping and typing correspondence
• Dealing with large numbers of standard queries as well as assisting on more complex cases from members of the public by phone, email, social media or face to face. Follow up on social media queries and communication may be required
• Dealing with constituents in an empathetic manner
• Gathering relevant information to assist with resolving cases
• Log all cases; monitor progress and ensure all identified actions are taken in a timely manner
• Ensure that each case is dealt with promptly, sensitively, confidentially and accurately in accordance with the MP
• Monitor and update a media and social media and online presence in the constituency
Who We’re Looking For:
• Someone with passion and knowledge of Ashfield and its constituents
• Knowledge of local and national issues
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships
• Competent in the use of IT, including Microsoft Office package, email and internet
• Highly motivated individual, who can manage and prioritise a demanding workload, take initiative and meet deadlines
• Strong writing skills, with experience in drafting letters
• Social media experience
• Willingness to occasionally work outside normal hours and travel within the constituency
• Be sympathetic to the aims, values and objectives of Reform UK
Upon appointment you will be required to comply with the Baseline Personnel Security Standard, undertaken by the Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO). See Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO) page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
