Job Details
Luke is looking for an enthusiastic, hardworking and organised caseworker to join his team. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in Luke’s work supporting constituents in Basingstoke.
The successful applicant will provide advice and support to constituents on a variety of issues and manage a portfolio of casework on behalf of Luke, liaising with government departments, local agencies and third sector organisations to achieve outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
* Receive and log enquiries from constituents by phone, email, letter or face to face at surgeries, and respond or refer as appropriate.
* Gather relevant information from constituents and partner organisations (e.g., councils, government agencies, charities) to progress the case.
* Draft correspondence and responses on behalf of Luke (letters, emails) and prepare briefings on constituent issues.
* Monitor progress of cases, follow up outstanding actions and escalate urgent cases to the Member or senior staff.
* Keep up to date with relevant legislation, policies and local issues impacting constituents.
* Occasionally work outside normal office hours (evenings / weekends) for surgeries or events.
*Ensure that each case is dealt with promptly, sensitively, confidentially, and accurately, in accordance with the office protocol.
* Ensure records of contact with constituents are kept, with details of each case, by adhering to the Data Protection Act principles and respect the confidentiality of data at all times.
* Support in the development and progression of local campaigns
* Assist with the work of other colleagues as required and communicate appropriately with internal and external contacts.
Desired skills, experience, and qualities:
* Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail, with a proactive approach.
* Good written and oral communication skills.
* Ability to deal with constituents and other stakeholders in a compassionate, understanding and sensitive manner.
* Ability to prioritise tasks effectively, work well and keep calm under pressure and work to tight deadlines.
* Good IT skills essential
* Previous experience of a public facing role would be helpful.
* A good knowledge of the Basingstoke constituency.
This is a part-time role (30 hours per week) but there is the opportunity to progress into a full-time role.
