Job Details
John Grady MP is looking for a highly motivated person with excellent organisational and communication skills to join his constituency office as a caseworker. You will provide advice and support to local people on a range of issues, by managing a large caseload to help to resolve problems through communication with government agencies, local authorities, the voluntary sector and other organisations.
Key Responsibilities
• Deal with large numbers of standard queries, as well as assisting on more complex cases from members of the public by phone, email, social media
• Draft responses to constituents
• Ensure that each case is dealt with promptly, sensitively, confidentially and accurately
• Gather relevant information to assist with resolving cases
• Log all cases; monitor progress and ensure all identified actions are taken
• Retain records and information confidentially and in line with data protection legislation
• There may be a requirement for the role holder to work outside of the normal working hours and travel for work away from Glasgow occasionally
• Assist with other aspects of the office’s work, including community engagement and visits.
Skills and Experience
• Ability to deal with and prioritise a large and varied caseload, and work well under pressure
• Ability to manage expectations in sometimes challenging circumstances
• Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
• Good IT skills including MS Office
• Ability to draft letters and emails to a high professional standard
• Ability and willingness to develop knowledge in specialist areas
• In-depth knowledge of the issues constituents in Glasgow East face
• Ability to work independently as well as effectively as part of a team
• Sympathetic to the aims and values of the Labour Party.
